Meaningful Coaching

Supervision is a well-established practice in coaching. Because coaching is a reflective practice, coaches perfect their skills by being coached.

Modern leadership extends beyond diligently running the business. It involves being a change leader, setting and holding context for team performance. Leaders will benefit from developing coaching skills and, more specifically, systemic leadership skills to engage their teams.

For instance, we often encounter leaders who aim to handle conflict situations by brokering a truce during their one-to-one with their directs. Such an approach tends to establish artificial harmony, which does not resolve the conflict; it only mutes it. Systemic leadership tackles conflict situations differently, working directly with partnerships and teams for much more genuine harmony.

With the leadership supervision, we help you develop such new perspectives and put them in practice to improve your leadership performance, which might just give you the keys from mid-management to senior management.

Henko offers a specialised supervision service with a focus on leadership development.

Who is this service for?

  • Business leaders looking to organise better collaboration,

  • CTO / CIOs looking to be intentional with their leadership style,

  • Change & transformation leaders looking to bring intentional work in the intangibles of team relationships,

  • Product Owners/Managers,

  • Agile delivery managers, ART Leaders, RTEs,

  • Etc.

Why engage in one-to-one supervision?

Developing knowledge and developing practice are different things.

During the Agile wave, we have seen the danger of confusing those. A training and certification industry does not make for effective practice. Accumulating knowledge is a complete waste if it is not to be adopted and implemented.

Supervision stimulates the reflective process and focuses on practical application to develop mastery.

One-to-one supervision also offers the benefit of the intimacy of a coaching relationship, allowing for deeper reflection on personal challenges and edges. From a practical point of view, you decide when to book the sessions according to your diary rather than aligning with a group schedule, which might work better for busy professionals.

Learning outcomes

Improve your leadership - Your competencies only matter when they become skilled actions. We shift the focus from theory to pragmatic application, using real-world reflections to develop true mastery.

Improve your stance as a leader - Develop a stronger awareness of how you come across and adjust your style to improve your impact in your role.

Stimulate collaboration - Learn to create, sustain, and evolve a collaborative team environment. We'll also sharpen your systemic coaching skills to drive intentionality in your leadership.

Improve team performance - Elevate team performance by fostering psychological safety and promoting dynamic, open interactions. Build a supportive environment where effective collaboration thrives.

Supervision focus

The first session of the series is to determine your supervision focus.

The focus can be completely tailored to your situation.

Alternatively, we can theme the supervision with a specific focus on systemic leadership skills.

One essential requisite is that the focus must align with a real-world change situation that you are working on so we can stimulate practical reflection and you take action.

Schedule of sessions

  • Session 1 - Establish your landscape, evoke awareness, review your working situation and determine the supervision focus,

  • Sessions 2 to 5 - Unfold situations in relation to your supervision focus and create reflection, learning, next actions,

  • Note - When choosing a themed focus on systemic leadership, each session will look at a specific aspect of the topic and bring an education point around which the reflection will articulate,

  • Session 6 - When signing up for only six session, this session is used to reflect on the overall journey, assess and anchor the new awareness into your change practice. When signing up for a ten-session programme, the sixth session is used as a check-in on the agenda to adapt the programme if necessary,

  • Sessions 7 to 10 - For people signing up to ten-session programmes, the second part of the programme deepens the exploration, or repositions based on the discussions at the sixth session. The tenth session is used as a reflection over the entire programme.

Logistics

The programmes run virtually from our Platform for Continuous Change. They will use Zoom, MS Team or browser-based video.

The platform allows you to access our diary and reserve sessions. It also allows for direct communication and file exchange and contains all the information in one place.
